OUR BEGINNING

Finding our way back

From the original Nighthikers archive

Friends together on an original Nighthikers outing

Nighthikers began as a group of friends looking for something different after dark. The original About Us page remembers those early walks: learning the woods, finding familiar paths, and discovering how much a place could change when the sun went down.

The friends used the names Atom, Bear, Krypto, and Sci. As life took them to different places, the shared experiences stayed with them. The website became a home for that connection: stories, photos, ideas, and conversations about a world most people were sleeping through.

The surviving pages carry dates from 2006 and 2007. Their central idea still feels right: go outside, pay attention, and spend meaningful time with people. This new chapter brings that idea forward with more care for preparation, access rules, and the places we visit.

We’re beginning again with the original emblem and a handful of memories. There is room here for the people who remember the first site, and for anyone discovering night hiking for the first time.
